Both the Intermediate and Senior IGS Theatresports Teams delivered impressive performances in the semi-finals of the Theatresports Schools’ Challenge this week, showcasing the creativity, collaboration and quick thinking that have characterised their successful seasons.
The Intermediate Team competed at St Augustine’s College, Brookvale, on Tuesday. Building on their strong performance in the opening heat, the team demonstrated confidence and ingenuity across a range of improvisation games. A highlight of the evening was their Play in the Style Of game, which reimagined The Boy Who Cried Wolf as a police drama, entertaining the audience with its inventive characters and dramatic twists. While the team did not progress to the next round, they represented IGS with enthusiasm and skill throughout the competition and should be proud of their achievements.
The Senior Team competed the following evening at St Patrick’s College, Strathfield, against a particularly strong field of competitors. Their standout performance came in the 3-minute round with their outstanding Shakespeare game, where they brought to life the tale of two rival sculptors in a museum. The scene received the highest score of the night and helped secure first place overall, earning the team a place in the Grand Final.
Congratulations to both teams on their excellent performances and commitment throughout the competition. We wish the Senior Team the very best as they represent IGS in the Grand Final at the Enmore Theatre on Sunday 21 June.
