The Spirit of Athletics

CIS Athletics Carnival

Our Years 3 to 6 athletes represented IGS at the CIS Athletics Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park on Friday 4 September, competing alongside some of the strongest young athletes from independent schools across NSW.

The carnival provided students with an opportunity to test themselves across a range of track and field events, putting into practice the skills, training and determination they have developed throughout the year.

Across the day, our athletes approached each event with focus and enthusiasm. From sprinting and distance events on the track to field events, students challenged themselves to perform at their best while supporting and encouraging their teammates.

There were plenty of personal bests (PBs) recorded throughout the competition, reflecting the commitment and perseverance our students have shown in their training. For many, the carnival was also an opportunity to compete at a higher level and gain valuable experience against athletes from schools across the state.

Just as importantly, our students represented IGS with excellent sportsmanship. They celebrated each other’s achievements, encouraged their teammates and embraced the challenges that came with competing at a major interschool athletics carnival.

Congratulations to all our Years 3 to 6 athletes on a memorable day of competition. Their commitment, resilience and willingness to challenge themselves were a wonderful reflection of the spirit of IGS sport.
