A Celebration of Singing at IGS ChoralFest 2026

This week, the IGS Primary School came together in a wonderful celebration of music, community and collaboration as every child from Kindergarten to Year 6 took to the stage for our two spectacular 2026 ChoralFest Concerts, themed Stronger Together.

Transformed into a vibrant performance space, the School Hall resonated with the voices of our youngest musicians through to our senior Primary students, as we celebrated the joy of singing and the remarkable achievements of our young performers. The two concerts brought together our K–3 ChoralFest Concert and 4–6 ChoralFest Concert, providing every child with the opportunity to experience the excitement, confidence and shared accomplishment of performing as part of a large musical community.

Over the past five years, building a strong culture of singing has been a shared strategic goal of the IGS Music Department, led by our Director of Music and wholeheartedly embraced by our Music Teachers and colleagues across the School. This week’s ChoralFest was a wonderful reflection of that collective commitment and the important place music holds within the fabric of IGS.

The theme Stronger Together reflected our School’s focus on grit, perseverance and determination. Through an engaging and diverse program of repertoire, students demonstrated not only their developing musical skills, but also the dedication, resilience and teamwork that underpin successful ensemble singing. From learning lyrics and melodies to developing vocal technique, listening to one another and performing with confidence, every student contributed to something much greater than themselves.

The concerts also showcased the wonderful work of our K–2 Choir and Years 3–6 Choir, whose performances added another dimension to the celebrations and highlighted the opportunities available for students to extend their musical learning through choral experiences.

Most importantly, ChoralFest was about every child having a voice. Whether performing for the first time or building on years of musical experience, students experienced the excitement of standing alongside their friends, contributing to a shared performance and being part of something truly special.

Bringing an entire Primary School together through music is a remarkable achievement, made possible by the dedication and collaboration of our Music Department, classroom teachers and colleagues who supported rehearsals, preparation and the many details behind the scenes.

When individual voices come together, something extraordinary happens. This week’s ChoralFest was a wonderful reminder that we are indeed Stronger Together.
