Grit, Growth and Celebration

At the first assembly of Term 4, our Primary School community came together to recognise the students who made a difference in Term 3.

Welcome to Term 4
Deputy Principal Junior School Sarah Herbert opened the assembly by welcoming everyone back and celebrating a wonderful Term 3, with swimming, Outdoor Education camps and Choral Fest to look forward to in Term 4.

She reminded students that our School goal for 2026 is GRIT, passion and perseverance, which is about being willing to try, learn and try again rather than being perfect. She also highlighted the IGS Way and the importance of kindness, responsibility and being an upstander, so that everyone feels safe, respected and included. Mrs Herbert asked students to consider where they will show grit in their learning and how they will help someone else feel they belong at IGS, making Term 4 a term of grit in our learning and kindness in our actions.

Ethics Olympiad
Special congratulations go to our Ethics Olympiad team of Leo C, Lexi P, Neil B, Teddie W and Charles F, who achieved an outstanding result at the recent Ethics Olympiad. They competed against schools from across Australia and Hong Kong and placed fifth overall, finishing closely behind the medal winners.

The organisers described our students as wonderful and a credit to our School community. They also noted that the day is about the quality of discussion, thinking and engagement throughout, and our team demonstrated all three. We are immensely proud of their effort.
