Carnival of Colour

The IGS High School athletics carnival returned in full stride on Tuesday 18 June – with just as much focus on fun and community as on competition.

With a theme of TV and movies, the day was a colourful celebration of student spirit, featuring costumes from every corner of the pop culture universe. From Dinosaurs to Minions, students turned out in style. Even the Heads of House joined in, racing down the track dressed as Power Rangers to the cheers of the crowd.

Students took part in a full suite of classic athletics events throughout the day. Activities included sprints and long-distance track races, high jump, long jump, discus and shot put, the carnival offered plenty of opportunities for personal bests and House points.

In true IGS fashion, the event wasn’t only about medals and records. A range of inclusive and novelty events, including the fan-favourite race with Joe and Charlotte, meant everyone could get involved – whether they were seasoned athletes or just in it for the laughs.

A big thank you to the High School PDHPE staff and every member of staff who rallied students, marshalled events and kept everyone safe, supported and smiling throughout the day.
