Students lead Ukrainian initiative

Marla and Daisy of Year 6 are calling on students and staff to donate to help Ukrainian refugees.

“We got this idea when we were watching the news and heard about the war and how the refugees had nothing, and how they needed to leave everything behind,” the students said.

“When we saw how little they had, we decided we wanted to help. We want to get other kids involved as well.”

The students will be collecting donations from all Primary School classrooms on Mondays and Fridays.

IGS Deputy Principal Mary Duma will be delivering the goods to the Blue and Yellow Hearts at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Strathfield at the end of Term 3.

“The girls have shown great initiative in raising awareness in regards to helping others. They are currently collecting toys and  toiletries, new bed linen and towels,” Mary said.

Well done Marla and Daisy on this wonderful initiative!
