The team progressed through the pool stage only conceding one goal and winning against Leumeah High School (5-0), Glenmore Park High School (6-0), SEDA College (7-0) and Moss Vale High School (2-1).
The team then progressed to the quarter final where they defeated Illawarra Grammar School 3-1 in a tight match. The semi final match was played against Prairiewood High School where the boys came away with a convincing 4-1 win, meaning they progressed to the grand final to face Mitchell High School. They were a formidable opponent and with many tired legs on the pitch after 6 matches the boys went down 2-1.
Having made it to the grand final, the IGS Open Boys Team have been invited to take part in the NSW State Championship, a fine achievement. Congratulations to the team on their spectacular 2nd placing out of 18 teams from the Greater Sydney Region.
