IGS footballers impress at CDSSA Championships

Congratulations to all our footballers for their efforts at the recent Combined Districts Secondary Sports Association (CDSSA) Championships.

In a fabulous day, where teams were privileged to play at the Wanderer’s playing facility, all our IGS players participated to the best of their ability against some high-quality opposition.

Our teams achieved some impressive results with the Opens Boys 1st XI finishing second after going down to Seda College in a close final match 1-0. The Opens Girls 1st XI had some strong wins and close losses, yet remained highly competitive finishing fourth overall. Our 16s Boys came third and very close to making a run for the championship, and the 16s Girls team drew with Moriah and demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork to finish a credible fourth place overall.

A number of students have been selected for the CDSSA representative team. Congratulations to:
16s Girls: Mille Mcallister | Genevieve Egan | Amelia Williams
16s Boys: Tyrone Johns | Shadow: Marli Wright
Opens Boys: Kristian Dragas | Shadow: Ryan Pyke

A special thanks to Mr Boris Dragas, Mr Walid Baghdadi and Mr Benjamin Hayes for their high quality coaching and support of all players throughout the day.
