Harriet supports recycling of fashion into furniture

IGS Year 12 Student and Sustainability Leader Harriet Ryder is featured in an article by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

The article sheds a light on the importance of recycling in schools and features small business, Worn Up, where IGS recycles unwanted old uniforms through a PTF initiative.

Harriet said the School’s involvement with Worn Up had brought home the extraordinary amount of textile waste in Australia.

“This is a great way for schools to be more sustainable and create resources through upcycling. A lot of the time people discard their old uniform without thinking much about it,” Harriet said.

“Worn Up’s presence has made students and parents think carefully about where their unwanted uniforms might end up.”
