Celebrating cultural events in Early Learning

"Celebrating cultural events has become an integral part of learning and building a strong sense of being and belonging," said IGS Head of Languages Junior School Vilma Rotellini.

The ELC Language Educators and children have explored a series of learning experiences and activities relating to cultural festivals.

“Japanese educators Haruko Watson and Yasuyo Kawashima brought everyone together in the JUNGAA class enjoying celebrating Hinamatsuri, also called Doll’s Day,” Vilma said.

“German and French dolls were displayed in the JUNGAA classroom. The Japanese children interacted with the Japanese dolls. Other activities included a sing a long and the French, German and Japanese children made paper craft Japanese dolls together.”

In French, Early Learners were introduced to popular French comic character Bécassine by Educator Maya Merlot.

Maya introduced the Bécassine doll wearing a traditional costume.
