Year 9 students embrace opera

IGS Year 9 students wrote, created and presented their own operas during SAGE Week.

Working in teams, the students were guided by Opera Express as they explored what makes opera compelling and created their own characters and story lines.

They then created a series of songs inspired by their plots and predicaments, created stage sets and costumes, and, in an exhilarating finale, brought their productions to life.  Year 9 pupils embrace opera as they sit in a bright classroom wearing “Opera on Kelly” shirts, listening intently to a man holding a pink prop, whilst another stands near the whiteboard at the back.
