Year 11 scientists learn from leaders

Year 11 students recently participated in the nearby University of Sydney's Science Extension workshop.

“In preparation for beginning their own project, students explored best scientific practice, experimental design and the use of statistics in data analysis in the morning,” said Head of Science Liz Turner.

“During the afternoon poster presentation session, students met and talked to STEM mentors from across the Faculties of Science, Engineering and Health and Medicine about their individual areas of interest.

“Mentoring is an essential component of the development of future scientists.

“Our students thought the advice and inspiration provided by these PhD candidates and early career researchers very valuable.”
