Let the Book Week Celebrations Begin!

In Week 8, IGS students will celebrate a love of all things literature and reading with a variety of activities.

On Wednesday 7 September, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are invited to come to School dressed as their favourite book character, and to participate in a Book Character Parade in the School Hall.

The parade has been timed to coincide with World Literacy Day. As part of the festivities children will celebrate the winners of the CBCA Book of the Year Awards, as well as recognise the students who successfully completed the 2022 Principal’s Reading Challenge.

This year’s theme is Dreaming with Eyes Open. Students are encouraged to bring a book to match their outfit for the event, along with a gold coin donation for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Due to current COVID restrictions, the Book Character Parade will be for students only, with no external visitors this year.

We look forward to celebrating a love of books and the joy of reading with our Primary School students!
