Head Girl and Head Boy reflect on their first term

IGS Head Girl Zahra Moloobhoy and Head Boy Madiba Doyle-Lambert presented to Principal Shauna Colnan this week.

“They’re modest,” said IGS Principal Shauna Colnan of 2022 Head Girl Zahra Moloobhoy and Head Boy Madiba Doyle-Lambert.

“They talked about finding their feet, but they have achieved so much already and are distinguishing themselves as skilful, accomplished, confident leaders.”

Please see below a message from Head Girl Zahra Moloobhoy and Head Boy Madiba Doyle-Lambert.

Thank you everyone for a wonderful term 1!

This term has gone by in the blink of an eye whilst simultaneously feeling as if a whole year has already passed. As a community we banded together, persevering through this trying term and achieving a lot along the way.

We really have to thank the entire IGS community, looking back on this term. We raised money for Lismore to provide support for the small, local businesses, who are experiencing significant hardships due to the floods. Thank you all for your contributions to the flood fundraiser, and your participation in the Mufti day. We especially loved your colouring-in for the ‘Hearts for Lismore’, and the collective support from the community.

The community donated resources for Lou’s Place in honour of international women’s day, a connection we wish to continue long into the future. Thank you all for your donations to Lou’s Place. For International Mother Tongue day we celebrated the diverse cultures and languages which lay the core of IGS’ values and community. Harmony day 2022 was wonderfully colourful thanks to your vibrant orange outfits and traditional dresses, as was saying hello to all of you at the gates for Foundation day 2022. Thank you for your participation in the Mother tongue day and Safer internet day activities and initiatives.

As a leadership team we learnt many valuable lessons in collaboration, organisation and what it means to be a leader in unpredictable times. This term our aims were to engage IGS in the wider community outside of school walls, be supportive anchors for students of all years and boost school spirit by promoting student work. We hope to develop our aims and goals further as the year continues and we have some exciting and promising programs and events in the early stages of development which we can’t wait to share. Thank you everyone for this term, we hope you all have a restful holiday and that everyone gets the opportunity to relax over the break.

We’re so excited for an even more joyous Term 2, and can’t wait to see you all again.
