Language for Belonging

Early Learning are excited to continue the Language for Belonging Project in Term 2.

Over several weeks, beginning in May, the Early Learning Centre will collaborate with Wiradjuri artist, Bianca Caldwell, to explore and learn about each totem as the children design and create artworks.

We invite families to connect to Country and collect special natural resources with your child such as feathers, gum nuts, leaves or rocks. You may find these in your local environment or on a trip. Take time to consider which Indigenous Country you have found them on. Bring them in to the Centre to share with us and form part of the artworks.

IGS is situated on Eora Nation. Wherever we are across Australia, we are on Aboriginal land. We acknowledge Elders and recognise their central place as teachers across early years learning communities. Aboriginal people have been teaching children for more than 60,000 years.
