International Women’s Day

Staff and students across the campus crossed their arms in support of International Women's Day 2022 this week.

IGS joined in the 8 March global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

The 2022 theme, #BreakTheBias, reminds us that together we can identify bias which holds women back, and take action to level the playing field, every day.

The theme reminds everyone that as individuals, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.

In keeping with our motto, Unity Through Diversity, students are encouraged to actively call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping, to strike the IWD 2022 pose and share their #BreakTheBias image or articles to encourage others to commit to helping forge an inclusive world.

To help support women’s refuge Lou’s Place, students may take new socks and undies of all sizes and basic makeup such as mascara and foundation to the Bibliothèque.
