High School Swimming Carnival: Gallery

Students in Years 7 to 12 enjoyed making a splash at their annual IGS swimming carnival earlier this week.

House spirit was alive with students of all skill levels encouraged by their peers to dive in and have a go.

“The 2022 IGS High School Swimming Carnival presented an opportunity for the IGS students to begin the process of celebrating community, house spirit and the talents of our amazing swimmers,” Head of PDHPE, Sport and Outdoor Education Simon Board said.

“Ensuring we provide the most supportive COVID environment possible, our students were divided into cohorts with Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) competing first, then stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) and stage 4 (Years 7 and 8). Our student leaders inspired a tropical theme which created a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere leading to three records, high participation and an extremely close final house competition.

“I would like to thank the PDHPE staff, sports coaches and IGS staff for their fabulous efforts throughout the day and the IGS students who helped to make the day such an outstanding success.”

To maximise COVID safety, students took part in cohorts, rather than gathering together all at the same time.
