Three children sit on the floor in a classroom, each holding a fluffy sea turtle puppet. The children appear engaged and happy, using the puppets to build social skills among shelves and colourful materials in the background.

Fluffy puppets enhance social skills

Kindergarten students are improving their social and emotional learning with the help of puppets, including a seal.

In five lessons, they will learn more about teamwork, leadership, building bridges between friends, overcoming obstacles and other skills particularly useful for students of their age.

The Drama Toolbox Wild Primary Adventure Series uses fun, fluffy and relatable Seal, who makes mistakes and learns from them with the help of soft puppet friends such as bears, crocodiles, turtles, dolphins and mice.

A group of young children in school uniforms sit on the floor in a classroom, playing with fluffy puppets to enhance social skills. A teacher watches from a chair whilst colourful decorations and pupil artwork brighten the classroom walls.

In their first lesson, this week, Seal learnt not to give up even when times were hard (a growth mindset), and Seal also learnt how to apologise for earlier inappropriate behaviour.

Older students at IGS will also be visited by the Drama Toolbox team, to learn further skills.
