Exploring Futures: Year 10 Creative Internship Program

This week, Year 10 students participated in the Creative Internship Program. This unique Program connects students with a diverse community of professionals, allowing them to explore various career fields.  By engaging in workshops and shadowing professionals in their day-to-day operations, students gain first-hand insights that can guide their future career options.

Students were able to choose from the Programs below, selecting their first and second preferences. The Barista course was the most popular!

  • Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creative Problem Solving Workshop at UTS Business and Management.
  • Podcasting Tour of SBS Studios where students observed a live radio broadcast, learned about the podcasting process and enjoyed an exclusive studio tour. Students also gained insights into how SBS tailors language content to meet the diverse needs of Australians. A special highlight of the day was hearing from the Governor-General address all SBS employees. To top it all off, students had the chance to record content for the SBS podcast, Learn English.
  • Coffee art course at the Coffee School Surry Hills, where students learnt how to pour the perfect shot of coffee, texturise milk, create coffee art and collaborate as a team.
  • Interactive workshop where students heard from guest speakers and discovered a range of technology career possibilities.
  • Hands-on workshop facilitated by HR professionals from Cox Purtell. Students crafted their CVs and cover letters and role played interview skills.
  • Visit to Co.As.It, an Italian Language and Care organisation dedicated to supporting the community and architectural firms, Virtual Ideas and Woods Bagot.
  • Assisted the IGS PDHPE department in facilitating the K-2 Novelty Carnival.

Thank you to all teachers and partners involved in the program. Special thanks to Amelia Phillips IGS’s Career Advisor who runs the Creative Internship Program and facilitated these enriched educational opportunities for our students.
