Dolls’ festival for Kindy

IGS Kindy students of Japanese joined in Hinamatsuri, or Dolls' festival, on 3 March.

Students in the Kindergarten Japanese class learned how people in Japan celebrate this special day.

“They were fascinated by the special colourful sweets Japanese people eat for Hianamatsuri and pretended to eat them saying ‘Oishī!’,” said Machiko sensei.

Acknowledging this special day, the students engaged in a craft activity using origami paper to make their own Hinaningyo, or dolls.

The students revised vocabulary about body parts as they followed instructions to make their own paper doll.
