5 Days till Opening Night

IGS Community Brings Mamma Mia! to Life

Opening Thursday 12 June for four performances only, the 2025 IGS production of Mamma Mia! is more than just a musical, it’s a joyful celebration of community and creative collaboration. At its heart is a passionate group of students, staff and families who thrive on the shared experience of making theatre together, full of energy and imagination to every step of the journey. A vital part of this year’s production has been the strong partnerships built with our network of artistic IGS families.

At our School, we believe in the power of community connections. Whether through events like International Day, Showcases, or Musical Productions, these shared experiences enrich student learning, foster collaboration, and create a lasting sense of belonging,” shares Darren Kuilenburg Director of Music.

With the generous support and exceptional talents of our volunteers, this year’s production has been brought to life through a strong commitment to sustainability. Found objects, repurposed materials and cherished props from previous productions have been thoughtfully reimagined, alongside an incredible array of donated items, all coming together to create the vibrant and immersive world of Mamma Mia!.

“Love the opportunity to have an insight to see what the students are doing and see how it all comes together,” shares parent Monique Backwell.

In the lead-up to opening night at the Seymour Centre next week, we have been incredibly fortunate to draw on the talents and expertise of our wider IGS Community. Their generous contributions have been instrumental in helping us reach this exciting milestone. From builders and textile artists to painters, sewing technicians, scenic designers and stylists, an impressive range of specialist skills has been brought to life during a series of weekend workshops. These dedicated individuals have generously given their time, artistry and energy to help realise the bold and dynamic vision of this year’s theatrical production.

The 2025 IGS Musical Production is a shining example of what we can achieve when we work together, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
