Music Tuition and Ensembles

An instrument and ensemble for everyone

Learn more about private music tuition and the various ensembles on offer at IGS

Tuition

IGS has a rich performing arts program and many of our students elect to undertake private tuition on an instrument of their choice.

Learning to play an instrument entails self-directed learning, and the ability to work calmly and consistently towards mastery.

Students who undertake private tuition are encouraged to participate in the School’s various music ensembles.

Ensembles

Making music in ensembles involves cooperating with others, listening to others and working harmoniously towards the goal of a performance, as well as a commitment to learning the music and attending rehearsals regularly.

Students in Year 4 and Year 5 participate in the School’s Instrumental Program and are given the opportunity to learn a band instrument and perform in a concert band as part of their classroom program.
