From Tuesday 20 to Thursday 22 May, Year 9 students participated in an immersive Outdoor Education Camp at Glenmack Park in Kangaroo Valley.
The two-night camp offered students the chance to develop vital outdoor education and leadership skills, while strengthening friendships and cohesion within the year group. It also marked a return to the IGS Retreat in Kangaroo Valley, reinforcing the School’s sequential Outdoor Education Program from Year 7 to Year 10. For many students, the camp provided the first step toward undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
Facilitated in partnership with Southbound Adventures, the program was thoughtfully designed to align with the School’s educational objectives. Students engaged in a variety of outdoor activities including bushwalking, canoeing and mountain biking. These experiences challenged them physically and mentally, encouraging resilience, teamwork and personal growth.
The Southbound team of professional outdoor educators ensured a seamless, fully supported experience while fostering an engaging and challenging environment to support students’ learning.
Thank you to all the IGS staff who attended and supported the camp. Your guidance, energy and care helped create a meaningful and memorable experience for our students.
