Traditional South Indian incursion for Year 4

Year 4 students participated in a range of vocal, movement and traditional South Indian dance workshops on Wednesday 31 May.

During the Workshops students explored Traditional South Indian movement, dance and song. This exciting learning experience linked directly with performance, composition and listening outcomes outlined in the NESA K-6 Creative Arts Syllabus.

To finish an exciting and immersive day, the students provided a performance for their parents and carers in the Hall.

The workshops were presented by Shyamla Erswaran, founding director of Bindi Bosses Dance Company. Shyamla was joined by master teacher of Bharatanatyam (Tamil Dance), Percussion (Mridangam, Morsing) and Konnoakol (rhythmic recitation), Suresh Rajendran. Suresh is Co-Director and chief choreographer of Agal Dance Company and Co-Founder of Samarpana Institute of Dance.
