Students strike for climate change

With their parents' permission, IGS students recently went on strike for climate action.

“We had an amazing turnout of IGS students from all years,” said Sustainability Leader Harriet of Year 12. “I’ve been told that around 80 people signed up.

“The strike is important to me because it’s about our future.

“We can see the impacts of climate change playing out all around us, in the black summer bushfires, in the Lismore and surrounding floods, and in the increasing prominence of ‘once in a lifetime’ events that have become the norm.
“I don’t want to miss school for this, but we will. We’ll have to keep striking until we have a future that’s guaranteed.

“Elections are coming up shortly.

“So what I want you to do now is vote. Vote for us, and vote for the future.”
