On Wednesday 21 May, children from the IGS Early Learning Centre (ELC) gathered on the grand steps of the Bibliothèque to take part in a much-loved annual tradition, National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) 2025.
Each year, this vibrant nationwide event, coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), brings together children from across the country to read the same picture book at the same time. Now in its 25th year, NSS celebrates the joy of storytelling while promoting the importance of early literacy.
At 11am, children in libraries, schools, childcare centres and homes across Australia opened the pages of The Truck Cat, written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell. Our ELC children were no exception, delighting in the story as they sat attentively on the big steps of the IGS Bibliothèque, immersed in the adventures of a very special feline.
This annual event provides a joyful and shared reading experience, and it was a pleasure to be part of it once again.
