High School students took to the course at Wentworth Park on Tuesday 31 March for the annual Cross Country Carnival, making the most of a scenic afternoon outdoors. Starting alongside the iconic light rail tracks, competitors wound their way around the greyhound track before catching glimpses of Blackwattle Bay and the new Fish Markets, all beneath the shade of the towering fig trees that line the park.
While runners pushed themselves along the course, showing grit, determination and a commitment to personal achievement, students who were not competing embraced the open space, choosing to read, kick a ball or rehearse choreography for ArtsFest. Cheers from the sidelines, shared encouragement and time spent together under the trees highlighted the strong sense of connectedness throughout the afternoon. Whether competing or supporting friends, the carnival reflected a collective effort to participate, persist and enjoy being part of the High School community.
The Cross Country Carnival marked the final High School sporting event of what has been a busy and successful term for the PDHPE department. We thank the team for their organisation and for creating opportunities for students to come together, be active and enjoy time as a School community.
