Sarah Herbert appointed Deputy Principal Junior School

IGS is proud to announce the appointment of Sarah Herbert as Deputy Principal Junior School, commencing at the beginning of Term 3.

A trained early childhood and primary school teacher, Sarah has made an extraordinary contribution to IGS through her leadership as Head of Children’s Programs and previously as Head of School Early Learning. Under her guidance, the IGS Early Learning Centre achieved its Exceeding rating from ACECQA in 2023.

“Sarah has consistently demonstrated her unwavering focus on leading programs that incorporate evidence-based best practice as it relates to child and family-centred teaching and learning,” said Principal Shauna Colnan.

Sarah brings more than two decades of experience supporting the education and inclusion of children with specific needs. Before joining IGS, she led teaching and allied health teams, and has been recognised with several awards and nominations, including the NSW Quality Teaching Award, the National Excellence in Teaching Award and the Early Childhood Education Excellence Award.

With a strong vision for a seamless and joyful educational journey from early learning through to primary years, Sarah is committed to strengthening inclusive practices, deepening IGS’s unique curriculum offerings, and honouring the child as a powerful creator and communicator.

She looks forward to working alongside the Junior School leadership team, her fellow Deputy Principals, and the wider IGS community in this new and exciting role.

Congratulations Sarah on this well-deserved appointment!
