Ready, Set, Swim!

On Tuesday 4 March, the largest Primary School Swimming Carnival to date saw 382 students from Years 3 to 6 dive into the action at Ryde Aquatic Centre. The day began with the longer endurance races, setting the tone as swimmers pushed themselves in the pool, cheered on by friends, teachers, parents and grandparents.

As the morning progressed, the excitement built with the 50m races, where students showcased their speed and determination. Interspersed throughout the day were the 25m races, giving younger swimmers a chance to take part and enjoy the experience of competition. These races were made even more special with the support of Alums and High School helpers, who encouraged and assisted students in the water.

The afternoon brought even more energy as the relays took centre stage, with Houses going head-to-head in thrilling team events. Among the standout performances, Filippa V set a new record in the Girls 11 Freestyle, finishing in an impressive 31.65 seconds. The grand finale of the day was the highly anticipated King and Queen of the Pool event, held for the first time ever at IGS. Age champions from each year group lined up for one last race, with a staggered start based on their times earlier in the day. This ultimate showdown determined the overall winners, closing out the carnival in spectacular fashion. See our Age Champions below.
