On Thursday 11 September, the IGS Community came together to mark R U OK? Day, a national initiative reminding us of the power of connection and the importance of checking in with those around us. This year’s theme, Ask R U OK? Any Day, highlighted that conversations about wellbeing are not limited to a single date but are vital every day of the year.
To begin the day, staff and students gathered at the front gates where the SRC handed out stickers, banners, contact cards and a number of R U OK? Day resources to promote the day. Our therapy dog Charlie was a special guest, offering comfort and joy as students arrived at school.
The IGS Community showed their support by wearing yellow and black, creating a strong visual reminder of the day’s message of kindness and care. A gratitude poster in the school entrance provided another opportunity for our Community to pause, reflect and share positive affirmations.
In classrooms, discussions focused on mental health and wellbeing, encouraging students to think about the small but meaningful ways they can support themselves and others.
R U OK? Day at IGS reinforced that a simple question can make a big difference. By fostering open conversations and a culture of care, our Community continues to work together to ensure that IGS is a place where every voice matters, and every individual feels supported.
