Mamma Mia! What a Show!

The curtains have closed on Mamma Mia!, and what a show it was. This year’s musical has been one of the most ambitious, polished and crowd-pleasing productions staged by IGS – a spectacular celebration of student talent, community spirit and sheer creative energy.

Across four packed shows at the Seymour Centre, audiences were transported to the sun-soaked shores of the Greek Islands, swept up in the timeless music of ABBA and the infectious joy of the cast, musicians, and crew, who gave everything to bring this production to life. From big vocal numbers supported by an incredible musical orchestra, alongside dazzling choreography, to cleverly crafted set changes and on-point costumes, Mamma Mia! delivered from beginning to end.

But what made the show shine brightest was the dedication of our students. Whether centre stage under the lights, under the stage in the orchestra pit, or racing around behind the scenes, students committed themselves fully – rehearsing for months, mastering lines and dance moves, managing props and cues, supporting one another and rising to every challenge with professionalism and heart.

This production was also a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together. Parents worked tirelessly behind the scenes – creating costumes, designing set pieces, sewing, painting and lending support in countless ways.

A huge thank you to the brilliant staff and creatives who brought their expertise and care to every corner of the production: Director of Music and Producer Darren Kuilenburg, Director Peter Adam, Musical Director Nate Primrose-Heaney, Assistant Musical Director Erica Byrne, Stage Manager and Logistics Coordinator Madison Holness, Support and Wellbeing Lead Yvonne Brown, Repetiteur Joshua Cheng and Vocal Instructor Kirsten Allison, not to mention our incredible IGS Music Tutors in the musical orchestra.

We also extend our deepest thanks to Aron Murray for his dynamic lighting design, Kate Beere for her imaginative and transportive set design and Grace Deacon for her vibrant and era-perfect costume design. Together, their work created a professional and immersive theatrical experience that elevated every performance.

A special thank you goes to our generous sponsors, whose support helped make Mamma Mia! not only possible but a resounding success. Their contributions ensured that students had access to professional resources and a platform worthy of their efforts.

And while the final bow may have been taken, the excitement is far from over. For some students, talk of the next IGS production has already begun. The joy of performance, the thrill of collaboration and the chance to dream big on stage –  a musical that will continue to inspire future productions.
