Improvisation in Action

Semi-Finals Await Seniors

IGS Senior High School Theatresports Team, made up of Year 11 students Anna, Kai, Orla and Margot, performed recently at Ashfield Boys High School. They impressed audiences throughout the night and really shone in the final round, a Shakespeare-themed scene titled The Waiters’ Woe. In this challenge, the team improvised a hilarious scenario involving waiters attempting to prepare a dish that would please a monarch. Their clever performance earned a fantastic score of 5/5/4, securing them a place in the semi-finals of the Theatresports Schools Challenge.

Our intermediate team, featuring Claudine, Genevieve and Matilda, also delivered a strong and memorable performance. Their standout scene, Time War, followed a kindergarten teacher on her first day as she navigated a classroom full of mischievous children. Although this team was narrowly eliminated, we remain hopeful for a wild-card entry into the next round.

Although the team gave another outstanding performance in the semi-finals on Tuesday 3 June, they were unfortunately not selected to progress to the next round. We are incredibly proud of their creativity, teamwork and the spirit they brought to the stage. Well done to Anna, Kai, Orla and Margot on a fantastic season.

Special thanks to our 2024 Drama Leader and Head Girl, Antigone Marchbank, and former Drama student Madeline Stedman for their outstanding coaching and support.
