Year 3 students participated in a special day of cultural immersion led by Gawura. This enriching experience offered students the opportunity to engage with the rich cultural heritage of Australia’s First Nations People through interactive dance, storytelling and hands-on learning.
Gawura’s professional cultural educators are not only performers but also experienced teachers who bring Indigenous culture to life in a way that is engaging, respectful and directly linked to our curriculum. Students explored traditional practices and tools that have been passed down for tens of thousands of years, deepening their understanding of Country, culture and community, with each House group learning and performing a dance in just a day.
A Showcase took place on Wednesday 27 August in the Hall, where students presented some of what they’ve experienced and explored throughout the day. As part of the Showcase, students presented artworks they have been creating over the past weeks with Aunty B. They described the meanings behind their pieces and reflected on the experience of working together to create their class artworks.
