After two unforgettable weeks abroad, our IGS students have returned from their exchange adventures in Madrid and Osaka, enriched by language immersion, cultural discovery and international friendships.
Osaka, Japan
On 7 October, our Japanese students returned safely from their exchange at Osaka International High School, where they took part in daily classes, cultural workshops and excursions across the city.
Students supported their Japanese peers in English while strengthening their own conversational Japanese through shared learning experiences. They explored cultural traditions through calligraphy, cooking classes and yukata dressing, and visited Osaka Castle, the Panasonic Museum and Universal Studios Japan.
Their time in Osaka deepened not only their language proficiency but also their appreciation for Japanese culture and the friendships formed across borders.
Madrid, Spain
Our Spanish students’ journey began with a warm welcome from their host families and teachers in Madrid. Over two weeks, they immersed themselves in Spanish school life and culture, visiting Segovia, Toledo and the Prado Museum, and even taking part in a creative art workshop with a Spanish sculptor inspired by Velázquez and Goya.
From mountain hikes in the Madrid Sierra to laughter-filled classroom exchanges and friendly Kahoot quizzes about Australia, students embraced every moment of learning and connection.
As they bid farewell to Madrid, many described it as their “second home”, carrying with them lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
Thank you to Hiroko, Yolanda and Fabian for their efforts in making these exchanges such a success.
Hiroko coordinated the Japanese exchange with great care and attention to detail, strengthening our partnership with Osaka International School and ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.
In Spain, Yolanda and Fabian managed the IGS program with professionalism and warmth, working closely with our partner school, Colegio CEU San Pablo Monteprincipe, to ensure everything ran seamlessly.
These programs continue to strengthen IGS’s international connections and enrich our Community, reflecting our School’s commitment to fostering global citizenship, language proficiency and intercultural understanding.
