Clubs are back!

Whether you're interested in board games, braided rugs or basketball, there's a club (or two!) for everyone at IGS!

After the pandemic paused our School’s broad co-curricular program, it is exciting to see so many of our students taking advantage of the many clubs offered at IGS again.

“Our clubs program continues to grow!” said Assistant Coordinator of Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Adam Mawardi. “We now have clubs operating five days a week with a staggering 176 children flourishing in our clubs every day.”

While the program is built on tried and tested favourites including Karate Club, Science Club and Chess Club, there have also been exciting new additions made to the program this year.

“Electronic Dance Music Band and DJ club was introduced this year and the children are loving it,” said Head of Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) David Engelbert. “They are learning how to work the synths and mix tracks!”

According to David another exciting inclusion has been the Braided Rugs and Blankets club, facilitated by Year 3 teacher Jessica Slater.

“Ms Slater loves her Friday afternoons with her club. It is a peaceful and quiet yet very productive environment, they seem like they are enjoying a focused meditation.”

While many of the clubs are facilitated by our multi-talented teachers, sometimes the School brings in external experts to ensure students are receiving the best possible experience.

“Basketball club is also new and very popular!” explained David. “The team from Sydney BasketBall Academy does an awesome job keeping the kids moving and learning new skills.”

“We love the feedback we are receiving from families and be on the lookout for semester two for some new experiences to our program!” said Adam.
