Celebrating the 2025 HSC Drama Students

Last week, our Year 12 Drama students stepped into the spotlight, performing their original Group Performances alongside their Individual Works, Films and Performances, in front of a packed audience at the Commedia Playhouse. Family, friends and staff were captivated by the range of creative, powerful and entertaining works on show.

“Each and every performance was absolutely outstanding!” shared Principal Shauna Colnan.

Following the showcase, the students worked with grit and determination to refine their pieces, taking on feedback and finalising their work for the HSC. On Tuesday, 26 September, the cohort presented their performances to the NESA examiners with professionalism, energy and heart, giving their very best on this important day.

The day was made possible thanks to the support of our IGS Drama community. Special thanks go to:

  • Students Margot and Kai, and also Ruth, for lighting

  • Students Orla and Anna for Stage Management

  • Student Anna M, who was on standby for the Group Performance

  • All the Year 11 students who stepped up to assist and lead

  • Mr Moulds for his invaluable guidance and care

Principal Shauna Colnan also expressed her gratitude to our Director of Dramatic Arts, Rita, “Thank you so much for your dedication and immense talent always given so selflessly – you really bring out the very best in our students!”

Year 11 students, who will soon begin their own HSC Drama journeys, were inspired by the performances:

“I loved seeing people I know transform into these interesting characters that contrast with how I usually see them. The performances were a range of comedic, realistic and tragic pieces that were exciting to watch and allowed me to see different styles of acting that I might implement when I’m in their position next year.” – Matilda B

“It was great to see how each person selected a piece which showcased their strengths and individual talents. The comedic pieces had me laughing and smiling, while the more dramatic pieces elicited some beautiful emotional moments.” – Gretel D

“Having seen the pieces as ‘works in progress’, I can confidently say that each performer improved their piece and delivered an outstanding performance. As a Year 11 student, I felt inspired to commence my major work next term, having seen what’s possible.” – Orla O

“The HSC performances were great. I loved the monologues as the emotions are all focused on one actor. I loved Nikita’s Nocturne. This really captured my attention, as I have younger siblings as well.” – Leon C

Bravo to our Year 12 HSC Drama students for their extraordinary achievements!
