Celebrating Sporting Success in Junior School

From athletics carnivals to coaching sessions, gymnastics, swimming and even a marathon, our Junior School students have been shining across a wide range of sporting events. Celebrate some of the many wonderful highlights from recent weeks in Junior School sport.

Junior School Coached by Year 10 PASS Students

On Tuesday 2 September, Mr Condon’s Year 10 PASS class and Mrs Haynes’ Year 3 Gold PE class came together for a special coaching session.

Over the past fortnight, our Year 10 students have been developing their coaching skills by leading fun, age-appropriate activities for Primary students as part of their Coaching Assessment Task. They focused on delivering clear introductions, designing engaging drills and giving effective feedback.

The collaboration provided a wonderful opportunity for Year 10 to practise leadership while Year 3 enjoyed learning new skills in a supportive and energetic environment.

A big thank you to Mrs Haynes for her support in making this experience such a success!

CIS Athletics Carnival

On Thursday 5 September, IGS athletes competed at the CIS Athletics Carnival, giving their all in a highly competitive meet.

In the relays, IGS teams put in strong performances:

  • Junior Boys (Fred, Shane, Ryan and William) – 26th place

  • Senior Girls (Isabel, Sophia, Vivienne and Charlie) – 16th place

Our students also shone in the individual events. Congratulations to Ben, who achieved a personal best in Long Jump, finishing 10th overall. Sophia and Dexter showed great determination across multiple events, each running personal bests in the 200m with Sophia placing 9th and Dexter 14th.

A special mention goes to Andia for courageously competing in both the 800m and 1500m, Ryan for Long Jump, William for the 800m and Leo for Shot Put.

We are very proud of all our athletes for their commitment, spirit and achievements on the day.

K-4 Sport – Gymnastics

IGS K-4 Gymnastics program offers a wealth of benefits, supporting the physical, social and cognitive development of our youngest learners. Through gymnastics, students build strength, balance and coordination, while also developing confidence, resilience and teamwork skills.
