Celebrating Our Exceeding Rating on Early Childhood Educators’ Day at IGS

Today, on Early Childhood Educators’ Day, we celebrate the vital role early childhood educators play in nurturing the wellbeing, learning and development of young children across Australia. It’s a moment to pause, reflect and thank the professionals who shape the earliest stages of lifelong learning.

At IGS, we mark this day with pride as we reflect on our Exceeding Rating in the National Quality Standard (NQS) – a milestone that speaks volumes about the calibre of our Early Learning Centre. This achievement, previously celebrated in our article ELC Triumphs: ‘Exceeding’ in National Quality Standard Assessment is a testament to the commitment, expertise and care demonstrated daily by our educators.

Providing a safe and nurturing environment is paramount to child safety, and it is the foundation upon which all quality early learning is built. At IGS, our educators prioritise creating spaces where children feel secure, supported and free to explore – knowing that their wellbeing is protected every step of the way.

Under the exceptional leadership of Sarah Herbert Deputy Principal Junior School and Victoria Kirkwood Director of Early Learning, our Early Learning Centre continues to stand as a cornerstone of excellence at IGS. Their guidance has cultivated a nurturing environment where children feel safe, inspired and empowered to explore the world around them.

“Our deepest appreciation and thanks for the incredibly beautiful environment, care and program our Early Learning Educators create for the youngest children of IGS each and every day. They support the strong foundations of our school and hundreds, perhaps thousands, of children have experienced their warm, kind and child focussed interactions.”

The Exceeding Rating is more than a formal recognition – it reflects the trust families place in our educators, the strength of our learning programs and the commitment to continuous improvement that defines IGS. It highlights the strong relationships built with children and families and the thoughtful, purposeful teaching that takes place every day.

This rating is based on seven key areas defined by the National Quality Standard, each essential to delivering high-quality early childhood education:

  • Educational Program and Practice – Programs are child-centred, stimulating and designed to extend each child’s learning and development.
  • Children’s Health and Safety – Environments safeguard and promote children’s health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Physical Environment – Spaces are safe, suitable and rich with experiences that support learning and development.
  • Staffing Arrangements – Educators are qualified, experienced and build respectful relationships that foster engagement.
  • Relationships with Children – Interactions are responsive and respectful, promoting a sense of security and belonging.
  • Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities – Strong relationships with families and active community engagement are central to quality outcomes.
  • Governance and Leadership – Effective leadership ensures a clear direction and continuous improvement across the service.

As we celebrate Early Childhood Educators’ Day, we invite our community to join us in acknowledging the passion and professionalism of our educators. Whether through a kind word, a card or a moment of gratitude, let’s honour the people who make our Early Learning Centre exceptional – and who ensure that child safety remains at the heart of everything we do.
