Earlier this year, IGS marked B Kinder Day, a movement inspiring empathy, compassion and positive action. On Friday 5 September, we took this commitment further, hosting the B Kinder Schools Summit in partnership with Illuminate Education Australia.
As a proud B Kinder member, IGS’s Year 6 Primary School leaders joined student leaders from seven schools across Sydney to explore the theme “How Can I Make it Better?” The Summit encouraged participants to reflect on leadership through the lens of kindness, compassion and social responsibility, drawing on design thinking, entrepreneurship and ethics.
Each group of students developed an initiative they could implement in their community to make it better, with ideas ranging from School-wide clean ups to fundraisers and beyond. Their creativity and thoughtfulness were inspiring, showing how leadership grounded in empathy can spark meaningful action.
At IGS, these conversations resonate strongly with our values of connectedness and authenticity, reminding us that leadership is most powerful when it seeks to improve the lives of others.
