Art that Connects

On Wednesday 6 August, Year 5 attended the Warraba Weatherall Exhibition and participated in a studio session with art experts at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). This experience enriched their learning as part of the Creative Arts unit.

During the visit, students explored poetry, the importance of place and the role of art in conveying meaning and connection to Country. They learned about the different regions of Australia that the artworks originated from, and how these locations inform the stories, symbols and techniques that bring each piece to life.

This excursion reflects IGS’s commitment to embedding First Nations perspectives across the curriculum, from Early Learning through to Year 12, deepening students’ understanding of culture, history and Country.
