An Inspiring HSC Music Showcase

Celebrating the Class of 2025

On Friday 22 August, the Music Department hosted the annual Higher School Certificate Music Showcase, shining a spotlight on the extraordinary creativity, skill and dedication of our Year 12 Higher School Certificate students across Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension courses.

The event began with Perspectives in Sound, an immersive exhibition held in K305, where guests stepped into the imaginative worlds of our young composers and musicologists. From intricate composition portfolios to thought-provoking musicological analyses, visitors experienced a diverse range of original works that reflected each student’s unique artistic voice.

The exhibition was followed by Centre Stage in Soundspace (K311), a captivating live concert that brought students, staff and families together to celebrate the students’ performance portfolio. Audiences were treated to an eclectic mix of genres and styles as students performed their HSC performance programs alongside our exceptional IGS Music Staff and guest musicians.

Hosted by Year 11 Music 1 and Music students, the showcase provided a special opportunity to preview all these outstanding works ahead of the students’ final NESA submissions and practical examinations in Weeks 8–9.

Congratulations to all our 2025 HSC Music students for their passion, perseverance and artistry. Their performances, compositions and research truly reflect the vibrant spirit of music at IGS. Giorgio A, Hugh G, Teheke H, Lucas K, Simon M, Karel R, Tomas Mi and Goldie V are wished all the very best as they continue finessing their work over the next fortnight ahead of the final NESA Practical submissions.
