Year 6 IRT Showcase

Year 6 has spent the term immersed in their Independent Research Task – an inquiry project shaped by each student’s interests and passions. Work began with broad brainstorming as students refined their ideas into a clear inquiry question.

They then developed focused sub-questions that guided their research and helped build a deeper understanding of their chosen topics.

A creative arts component sat alongside the written work, with students producing pieces in varied forms – visual artworks, short films, monologues and scripted performances. Their inquiry topics were just as varied. Projects explored pet pythons, the evolution of cricket, technological change over the last 250 years, advancements in marketing, the Chernobyl disaster, cancer research and many others. The breadth of curiosity on display showed just how ready these students are for High School assignments!

The project culminated in a recent showcase on Thursday 27 November where families, students and teachers gathered to see the findings and creative responses on display.

A huge thank you to the supportive teachers and families who helped make both the students’ work and the showcase possible.
