Year 6 in the nation’s capital

Year 6 students have enjoyed two exciting days visiting Parliament House, the War Memorial, Museum of Democracy and many other places of interest during their Year 6 Camp to Canberra.

Students have said that one highlight was the role play of sitting of Parliament.

They enjoyed looking at The Big Picture, more formally known as The Opening of the First Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia by H.R.H. The Duke of Cornwall and York (later H.M. King George V), May 9, 1901. They studied it before heading south.

In Old Parliament House, students learnt about the history, processes and symbols of how a parliamentary debate works.
