Student-Led Wellbeing Initiative

The High School community marked the launch of SRC Wellbeing Friday, a new student-led initiative focused on wellbeing, connection and positive School culture. The initiative will take place on Friday of Week 5 each term and has been developed in response to student voice.

Led by SRC Portfolio Leader Zainab M in collaboration with the Wellbeing team and SRC representatives from Years 7–12, the initiative recognises the pressures students can experience during the School term. SRC Wellbeing Friday provides a shared opportunity for students to pause, reflect and reset within the School day.

Students were invited to attend in comfortable mufti, creating a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. From the start of the day, students were welcomed at the front gates with fruit and hot chocolate, setting a warm and supportive tone for the morning.

Within Tutor Groups, students participated in guided mindfulness and meditation sessions led by Ms Staple. With lights dimmed and calming music playing, they engaged in a short period of quiet reflection focused on breathwork and mental reset, supporting focus, emotional regulation and overall wellbeing.

Additional opportunities to unwind were offered throughout the day, including a lunchtime movie screening in the Bibliothèque, allowing students to relax and connect with peers.

The launch of SRC Wellbeing Friday represents a positive step in strengthening wellbeing and connection. The School commends the SRC for their leadership in delivering this meaningful, student-driven initiative which will continue once each term.
