Out of this World

Creativity Shines at Better Read Than Dead

The annual Better Read Than Dead anthology of children’s writing has become a much-anticipated event for some writers at IGS. This year, 31 students from Primary and High School submitted fiction pieces responding to the theme Out of this World! With all entries published and a selection receiving distinctions across age categories, IGS students made up almost 10 per cent of the entire book.

Several families and Bibliothèque representatives joined the celebrations at this year’s book launch in Newtown, enjoying readings, refreshments and the joy of taking home a copy of the newly released anthology.

“We had a good time, and I am thrilled to see so many students submit works. Several students have carried this on into high school, which is wonderful!”, shared Christopher Linton Teacher Librarian and Primary Coordinator

Given IGS’s growing participation over the past three years, the publisher will partner with various authors in 2026, with one set to visit IGS to run a writing workshop – an exciting opportunity for our young storytellers.
