Junior School Leadership Appointments

IGS is pleased to share four new leadership appointments within the Junior School, strengthening our commitment to high-quality teaching, learning and student wellbeing across Kindergarten to Year 6.

From Term 1 2026, Julia Preece, who was Head of Kindergarten to Year 2, is taking on the role of Deputy Head of Primary Teaching and Learning. Julia brings extensive leadership experience from Australia and the UK and has played a key role in shaping early years education at IGS, including the successful implementation of the Beginning to Belonging program. In her new role, Julia will work closely with the Head of Primary School to lead curriculum, assessment and teacher development, supporting strong academic outcomes and continuous improvement across the Primary years.

We are also delighted to announce that Erin Reedy has been appointed Head of Stage (Kindergarten to Year 2), commencing Term 1 2026. Erin brings a strong background in primary leadership, curriculum renewal and team collaboration, with experience both at IGS and in previous schools. Her inclusive and purposeful approach will support consistency and quality in teaching and learning across the early Primary years.

Lucy Haynes has been appointed Head of Primary PDHPE, Sport and Outdoor Education. A long-standing member of the IGS community, Lucy has taught PDHPE from Kindergarten to Year 12 for nearly two decades and has held a range of leadership roles across the school. Her deep knowledge of the PDHPE curriculum and passion for student wellbeing position her well to lead Primary PDHPE, particularly as IGS prepares for the implementation of the new PDHPE curriculum in 2027.

In addition, we’re delighted to start 2026 with highly experienced Primary School Teacher Ms Michelle Sullivan as Year 6 Teacher and as the Head of Inclusive Learning – Primary. In this role, Ms Sullivan will work collaboratively with primary staff, students and families to promote the inclusion of all students in our primary school.

These appointments reflect the depth of expertise within our community and our ongoing focus on strong leadership, academic rigour and student growth in the Junior School.
