Joyful celebration

K-2 Speech Day

This week, IGS Speech Day celebrated the efforts and achievements of our students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2.

The K–2 Speech Day was a joyful celebration of music, culture and achievement, beginning with a Welcome from Year 11 students Kaya Vachan and Issy Matthews, followed by an acknowledgement of Country. Students joined together in the School Song, Unity, Diversity, before the Junior Orchestra charmed the audience with My Paddle’s Keen and Bright

Principal Shauna Colnan then offered her warm welcome, setting the tone for a morning of celebration. Kindergarten students delighted families with spirited performances of Rocket Ship and Wise Old Owl, before receiving their awards from their home class teachers. The K–2 Choir energised the hall with I Must Clean My Room and Bubbles, leading into the Year 1 items and awards, followed by a K–2 video.

Year 2 then took to the stage and shared a selection of traditional songs from around the world, including Shake the Papaya Down, Es regnet, Es regnet, Bela Bimbam, Mo Li Hua, Savez-vous Planter Les Choux, and Kaeru No Uta. The morning concluded with Mr Colin Bird’s closing remarks and the uplifting message Unity Through Diversity, capturing the spirit of the occasion.

Thanks to our teachers, the students were able to learn and grow in a warm, safe and supportive environment.
