IGS Dux of 2025 Stella Manos is thrilled with her ATAR of 98.55 as it allows her to apply for entry into Oxford University where she would love to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
“I needed 98.5 to apply, so I am genuinely so happy, quite happy,” she said.
Stella, who was named a 2025 HSC All-round Achiever, started at IGS in Year 9 and was deeply focused on academic achievement.
“Honestly, at IGS, the teachers are the best,” Stella said. “They are the main reason I got such good marks.”

Stella was awarded First Place in Chinese Extension, Economics, English Advanced and Legal Studies at IGS Speech Night.
With no Chinese heritage, and beginning to study the language and culture only when she was in Year 8, Stella’s academic results in Chinese are particularly impressive.
Accelerating in Chinese Continuers in the 2024 HSC while still in Year 11, Stella achieved a result of 92 per cent.
“To study economics and politics, you have to speak another language,” she said.
Stella’s prowess has opened doors for her to study at a Chinese University while waiting to see whether she will gain entry to Oxford.
She might also attend Australian National University or the University of Sydney for a few months, or take part in a summer school.
Her long-term interests are centred around “ethics and post labour economics”.
“This is about what happens when AI replaces people’s jobs,” she said.
She is also applying for a place at the London School of Economics and Political Science and University College London.
We wish her all the best as she takes her place in the world.
