Willem, a committed Film Studies student, has been named a finalist in FlickerUp, the youth component of Flickerfest which is recognised as Australia’s largest short film festival. With 3,700 entries submitted from around the world and more than 1,000 in the FlickerUp category, his selection highlights both his creative skill and the strong foundations built in the School’s Film Studies program.

Year 9/10 Film Studies is a practical subject where students learn the full film making process – from developing ideas through to filming and editing. Each student completes a short film as a final project which is entered into FlickerUp.
Willem’s film offers a quiet and thoughtful moment of discovery, following a boy whose simple encounter with an object leads him on a small imaginative journey. His teacher, Nedd Manning, has expressed how proud he is of this talented student and the dedication Willem has shown throughout the year. We thank Mr Manning for his mentorship which continues to nurture the creative confidence and curiosity of Film Studies students.
The School congratulates Willem on this achievement and looks forward to seeing future students develop their creative skills in Film Studies.
