Elle Woods Hits Harvard – Rehearsals in Full Swing!

The 2026 IGS Musical Company has dived into one of Act 1’s most iconic moments “Welcome to Harvard!” In this pivotal scene, Elle Woods’ delightfully unconventional video essay sparks a fast-paced, witty exchange as admissions representative Winthrop debates whether pink truly belongs at Harvard Law. The scene is shaping up to be both hilarious and unforgettable.

A large group of excited teenagers and a few adults pose together indoors, wearing matching “Legally Blonde” T-shirts. They stand on a wooden floor, smiling and waving during rehearsals, capturing the cheerful, theatrical spirit of Elle Woods at Harvard.

Behind the scenes, the excitement is palpable. Our production team is hard at work crafting props for the Harvard setting, while parent volunteers have begun assembling costumes for both the ensemble and principal characters, adding clever touches of colour that bring the show to life. The Musical Orchestra has also kicked off rehearsals, with students meeting this Tuesday at lunchtime and again on Sunday 15 March in K311 with our professional musicians. With choreography, sets, costumes, and live music coming together, Harvard has never looked so fabulous!

We are delighted to introduce the exceptional choreographers leading the movement for Legally Blonde. Moniku Griffith, an IGS graduate who achieved top HSC marks for Dance in 2024 and was nominated for Shape, brings bold creative vision and fresh energy to the rehearsal room. A gifted contemporary dancer, Moniku combines technical precision with expressive storytelling, inspiring the cast and mentoring young dancers through her work with IGS Dance Clubs. Her leadership has elevated both ACT I and ACT II numbers, fostering cohesion, confidence, and high-energy performance.

A woman with straight long brown hair in a low ponytail stands against a black background, resembling Elle Woods at Harvard, wearing a black short-sleeved top, heart-shaped necklace, and stud earrings, looking at the camera with a neutral expression.

Joining Moniku is Olivia Enright, currently choreographing Beauty and the Beast for Willoughby Musical Society. Olivia’s extensive training in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Contemporary, combined with her performance experience at prestigious venues, including the Opera House and international tours, brings vibrant musical theatre style to the production. With a strong focus on storytelling through movement, Olivia complements Moniku perfectly, helping craft the character-driven, high-energy choreography that makes Legally Blonde so dynamic.

A woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes, styled like Elle Woods, wears a pink sleeveless top and smiles softly at the camera against a dark blurred background, as if ready for rehearsals at Harvard.

With scenes, music, choreography, costumes and props all coming together, the excitement is building, and we can’t wait to share this fabulous production with our school community.
